Yes our story is an interesting one.
I wonder how it will survive in this era of information and scrutiny. As a convert it’s sort of disappointing to not be everything it was supposed to be, nevertheless I’m still bewildered by it all.
It was only other people saying what it was supposed to be. Ultimately though it is what it is to us.
I suppose what it’s meant to be is typically define by others and not yourself. Or as Christ would put it… Sayest thou this thing of thyself, or did others tell it thee of me? John 18:34
What do we want our religion to be?
This is all rather philosophical, but I suppose that what I want is a religion that is scientifically grounded.
Agreed. I think we all ultimately want religion which explains reality or leads us to understand reality better. We want religion, or any practice for that matter, I think, that conforms with what is in fact. Life is, I think, a process of understanding and realizing what is, and working with what is rather than indulging our fantasies or our wishes or misperceptions of what is. Of course, we are all on a spectrum of desiring, perceiving and accepting what really is.
