In the church, Men can be sealed to multiple women if their current spouse dies. What about women being sealed to multiple men? Was it ever allowed?

I am interested since Joseph Smith was wanting to know Bible happenings; did he ever inquire about Prophetess. He sure wanted the details on more wives but did he inquire about the other roles women played in the old and new testament?

My wife’s grandmother was sealed to her first husband in 1929 and after his death, was sealed to her second husband in 1930 when she married him, both in the SLC temple. Both sealings appear on FamilySearch.com in her ordinance section.
