  1. I am loving your Born Again lectures. Thank you so much.

Having grown up in ‘the south’, I always marveled at the Grace which was comforting to so many Bible-belt Christians. I have read the BofM more than 20 times and was always perplexed by the contradiction of the current doctrine being preached, and what the BofM clearly teaches of Mercy and Grace. I remember asking some ward members if Grace was acceptable as an LDS teaching. And what about angels – do we believe in them? Boy! What a knuckle-head I was.

Your lectures are helping me connect the dots.

    Thanks so much.

    1. Glad you are liking the episodes, Linda!

I will tell you that, no matter what position you come down on in the whole “grace versus works” debate, you are going to face theological problems that have to be worked around in some way or other.

I like what C.S. Lewis said about it, which if I recall correctly, went something like this: If you talk long enough with an ardent defender of salvation by grace, you will eventually get to the place where they will admit that some degree of works is required. And if you talk long enough with an ardent defender of salvation by works, you will eventually get to the place where they will admit that some degree of grace is required.

He then concluded: “Talking about whether we are saved by grace or by works is like talking about which blade in a pair of scissors does the cutting.”

      I like that.

  2. Wow RFM, I hope you don’t leave us high and dry. 9 Weeks, has anyone beat this type of streak. My goodness. Glad you are finally taking a break.

These faith vs works are great, but it sometimes ventures into the pointless if its all false to begin with. However, it is when we give things meaning that life becomes interesting and then there is motivation to achieve things such as being worthy of that ever elusive eternal after life!!

    1. Sorry, David.

I couldn’t resist putting up another episode today.

Old habits die hard, I guess.

I promise I won’t put up an episode tomorrow, if it helps. ;^)
