Why do you keep saying that Santa Claus isn’t real and that I can’t choose to believe in him. He’s got to be one of the most real people on the planet, so real that hundreds of millions of us become him and personify him every year. If only as many people could choose to believe in Christ and personify him everyday of every year. I think both you and Bednar are a little wrong on this point. Despite all the contradictions in believing in Santa Claus we not only choose to believe in him but to pass on that belief generation after generation. And it could be easily argued that the world is better off because of this belief, Santa Claus is not a lie but a truth with contradictions. I think you can adopt the deep and compelling life changing truths without adopting the contradictions. I would love to tell you some of the deep truth you are missing in the temple narrative as well, despite the many apparent contradictions.
And we make it safe for every child when they are ready to discard the literal belief in Good ole’ Saint Nick. Let me know when the other systems do that with Christ and then we likely have something.
