In the field of psychology, cognitive dissonance is the perception of contradictory information and the mental toll of it. Relevant items of information include a person’s actions, feelings, ideas, beliefs, values, and things in the environment. Cognitive dissonance is typically experienced as psychological stress when persons participate in an action that goes against one or more of those things. Today we discuss the experience of dissonance when our beliefs of a fundamental religion are deconstructed.

I take exception to your suggestion “everybody knows Jeff Holland was not literally telling people to use guns against LHBTQ community”. Some who have gone the white extremist path my not realize how extreme theyve gotten.. it’s highly possible the father of the fellow who killed the people in Colorado gay club, said “we’re Mormon, we don’t do gay. May not have realized his son may have gone deeper than the father did and may have taken Hollands words literally.
